PH mobile download speed at 25.47 Mbps: Ookla August 2023

The Speedtest Global Index report for August 2023 has been released by Ookla, indicating that the Philippines' internet rank has moved one spot down in Fixed Broadband and decreased two positions in Mobile.

The country ranked 50th globally in the Fixed Broadband category, recording an average median download speed of 88.81 Mbps. The average upload speed was recorded at 87.22 Mbps, and the average latency was 5 ms.

In the Mobile category, the Philippines ranked 91st, listing an average of 25.47 Mbps download speed. The average upload speed and latency were registered at 6.21 Mbps and 23 ms, respectively.

Compared to the July 2023 charts, the performance of the internet in the country saw a slight decline.

Philippines ranks 91st in mobile and 50th in fixed broadband, according to the August 2023 data of the Ookla Speedtest Global Index.

Regarding global median speeds, the average download speed for Fixed Broadband is 82.77 Mbps, while the average for Mobile is 43.20 Mbps.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) achieved the fastest mobile internet speed worldwide, with an average of 210.89 Mbps. Meanwhile, Singapore was the top performer in the fixed broadband category, boasting an impressive average download speed of 254.65 Mbps.

The Speedtest Global Index for August 2023 includes 145 countries for Mobile and 182 for Fixed Broadband.

For those uninformed, the Speedtest Global Index takes into account median download speed to provide a more precise representation of achievable internet speeds in a specific market, according to analytics firm Ookla.
