The European Championship is winding down, with the semifinal pairings already set up to take place in the coming days. We look away from that a bit to see what is happening on the transfer front. Here you go.
After leaving Liverpool, Tiago Alcantara retires.
Former Barcelona and Bayern Munich midfielder Tiago Alcantara has announced his retirement from football after his contract at Liverpool expires.
In what can truly be considered a stellar career, the Spaniard won the Champions League and all the domestic cups in Germany and England. His brand of football is entertaining, and he was a darling to the managers he worked with, blighted by injury in his twilight. The game will miss him.
Bayern is preparing to make three announcements.
After completing the signing of Crystal Palace playmaker Michael Olise, Bayern Munich is about to announce the signing of Fulham defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha.
Last summer, Bayern cleared the Portuguese to join, but a last-minute error forced him to spend another season at Fulham. He has now completed his move and will make his announcement on Monday. However, the former German champions are keen on Jonathan Tah from Leverkusen; keep an eye out for that.
Zirkzee's release clause will activate at Manchester United.
Champions League-bound FC Bologna is on the verge of losing another player after Manchester United agreed on terms with Dutch international Joshua Zirkzee, with Erik Ten Hag directly involved in the transaction.
Zirkzee was instrumental to Bologna’s success last season, contributing loads of goals and assists to ensure the club achieved a top-four finish. A fee of €40 million is believed to be sufficient to secure Zirkzee's signing, as that remains his release clause until the end of next season.
Will Joshua Kimmich join PSG?
With Bayern Munich hitting the reset button and purging to start a rebuild, veteran defender Joshua Kimmich is on PSG's shortlist as the French champions seek to upgrade their squad.
Kimmich is interested in another challenge, and despite interests from Premier League clubs, PSG seems to be the favorite for the German international, who seeks a resolution to his future as soon as he returns from his post-Euros holiday.
Arsenal set to sell Kiwior
Polish defender Jacob Kiwior could leave Arsenal this summer, with the Gunners set to sign Italian defender Ricardo Calafiori from Bologna.
Kiwior made lots of appearances for Arsenal last season, notably at left-back, where he deputized for Alex Zinchenko. The Gunners will accept any bid exceeding £15 million for their defender, who can play as a centre-back or a left-back.
