Game Week 37 Predictions: Tottenham to beat Burnley

The game certainly means a lot more to the Clarets than Spurs; a win could keep Burnley’s faint hopes of survival alive, but they would also hope Nottingham Forest doesn’t pick a point against Chelsea.

It’s too little too late for both clubs, actually; Tottenham would look back at some horrendous results during the season and would regret what could have been with Aston Villa dropping points here and there at the tail end of the season.

Burnley gave people a lot of hopes at the start of the season, coming from the Championship as champions and playing expansive football that was a sharp contrast to the haram ball that was synonymous with the Clarets. They deflated all hopes too quickly.

The less said about Sheffield and Luton, the better, but the latter still has a more realistic chance of survival than Burnley. Even if Burnley conjures a win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they still must hope Forest doesn’t earn any points at all in their remaining two games, including the last against Burnley.

What is Tottenham fighting for? The top four hope is dead and buried; Aston Villa could easily wrap that up this weekend; the fifth spot could slip away if they’re careless, with Newcastle United and Chelsea lurking; they need just four points from their remaining three to seal the top six, which guarantees Europa football.

It’s going to be an explosive game. Tottenham is on a losing streak that must end. Their fans will riot if they drop points against a damaged side like Burnley, but the latter must also give their away fans something to cheer about.

Vincent Kompany has said his side will play without fear, knowing they could go down at Tottenham. He is certain his boys will give it everything they can over 90 minutes. It’s a game between two teams who must not lose, although their win could mean nothing at the end of the day.

Heung Min Son scored in his last two games, despite the quality of his performances in both games. He was anonymous in the game against Arsenal before he earned a penalty; he wasn’t in the game against Liverpool before Richarlison came on; he must have led from the front against Burnley.

Where will the Clarets get their light from? You can’t tell. They're bidding time, and they'll do it again in the championship next season. For Tottenham, it’s about pride and some respect for their fans. It will be interesting on Saturday.

Verdict: Spurs to win
