Here's the English translation of the advisory:
GCash supports a clean and fair election. So, from Oct. 20-31, 2023, our Send Money services will have temporary limits. Transactions will return to unlimited from Nov. 01, 2023. Plan your transactions to avoid inconvenience.
GCash has temporarily set a limit to the following Send Money services until October 31, 2023:
- Express Send
- Send via QR
- GCash Padala
- Request Money and Generate QR
However, GCash does not specify how much is the limit per transaction of the aforementioned services.
GCash said that if you encounter this error message "Sorry, we're unable to process your request" and cannot proceed with sending money, you might have reached your transaction limit for the day. That said, you may send money again the next day.
GCash said it fully supports the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolution No. 10946, also known as "Kontra-Bigay."
As financial institutions like GCash acknowledge their vital role in upholding the integrity of the elections, they aim to prevent any improper use of their services or digital financial tools. In line with this effort to combat vote buying and promote a clean and fair election, GCash has decided to impose transaction limits during this period.
"Rest assured that your funds are safe with us," noted GCash.
For those uninformed, the campaign period for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) started on October 19 and will end on October 28. After this period, campaigning will be prohibited. The Barangay and SK elections are scheduled to be held on October 30, 2023.
