Diablo 4 Season 2, titled Season of Blood, is slated for release on October 18, 2023, coinciding with the launch of the game on Steam. Check out below for more details.
According to Blizzard, the next Diablo IV season will launch with a variety of new content. Players can expect an all-new Questline, Vampiric Powers, and five additional endgame bosses, among others.
Moreover, the upcoming Patch 1.2.0 will introduce many quality-of-life updates in Diablo 4, including changes to mounts, Renown, Nightmare Dungeons, faster XP gain, and more.
Along with this launch, Diablo 4 will also be available on Steam. This platform joins Battle.net, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 (PS5), and PlayStation 4 (PS4), all of which, like Steam, support cross-play and cross-save.
Players who wish to play on Steam must first purchase the game on that platform and then connect Diablo 4 to a Battle.net account. Steam players will enjoy various Steam features, including Steam achievements, a friends list, and the option to invite those friends to play in-game. Diablo 4 Season 2 Details
Season of Blood
Join forces with Vampire Hunter Erys, who is voiced by the talented actress and film producer Gemma Chan, in this season to combat a new and dangerous threat to Sanctuary. Throughout your adventure, you will have access to Vampiric Powers that offer a variety of powerful and dark abilities for your character to use in battle. These powers can be acquired by using a new resource called Potent Blood and the corresponding Pact Armor.
Further, all new monsters have occurred with the arrival of the vampire Lord Zir. You must battle corrupted enemies called Blood Seekers. They look and behave like player characters and use tainted class skills.
The Blood Harvest Season Event offers the highest chance of receiving Potent Blood and Pact Armor drops. Vampire armies and Blood Seekers await across numerous regions of Sanctuary.
Once Diablo 4 Season 1 ends, all Seasonal characters will move to the Eternal Realm, and the items in Season of the Malignant character's stash will transfer to a new Withdraw Only Stash tab in the Eternal Realm.
Additionally, there will be five endgame bosses: The Beast in the Ice, Dark Master, Varshan, Echo of Duriel, and Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint.
Quality-of-Life Updates
Starting with the Diablo 4 Season 2 update, new players can skip the campaign and jump into seasonal content immediately after completing the prologue. This allows them to join their friends when the season launches.
You can now retain Renown rewards, such as extra skill points, potion charges, murmuring obols, and extra paragon points, between seasons, regardless of whether you are playing in the eternal or seasonal realm. Moreover, any unique rewards that you obtain through Renown will be carried over to new characters within the same game type. If your account has earned any hardcore Renown rewards, they will be bound to your other hardcore characters, while non-hardcore characters will have rewards that are specific to their character type.
Furthermore, gain XP and reach Level 100 approximately 40 percent faster compared to Season 1 (Season of the Malignant).
Enhancements to Nightmare Dungeons include increased monster density, teleportation to the interior of the dungeon, reduced backtracking, and more durable NPC companions.
Players can now enjoy an enriched endgame experience with the new addition of the Boss ladder. This feature allows players to target farm the five endgame bosses, both new and old, for Uniques and Uber Uniques that drop at a higher rate. Additionally, Legion Events and World Bosses will spawn more frequently, along with other improvements to the endgame experience.
Lots of adjustments have been made to Item and Inventory management, such as Gems being made into a crafting material, which reduced the burden of carrying too many items and making unnecessary trips into town. Additionally, changes have been made to Scrolls of Escape to prevent players from losing progress on a Hardcore character due to connectivity issues.
Meanwhile, mounts are now faster, more agile, and can charge through blockades.
Other highlights of the upcoming Diablo 4 Season 2 patch include updates to towns, improvements to Events and monster density, changes to Elemental resistances and status effects, and UI and UX features.
